What is
an index?

An index is traditionally a statistical metric based on many data points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), which tracks the stock market, is certainly familiar to you.

The DJIA is made up of the stock values of 30 significant corporations that are listed on several US stock exchanges. Traders and investors can purchase the DJIA to obtain access to the stocks of all of these companies.

What is a market indicator?

Market indicators facilitate the analysis of market data by traders and investors. Indicators can be found in all types of market analysis, such as technical analysis, fundamental analysis, and sentiment analysis.

If you've tried your hand at technical analysis (TA), you're familiar with indicators. Moving averages to complicated chart patterns like Ichimoku clouds are among them. Prices, trade volumes, and other data trends are all analyzed using TA indicators.
